Cyrenians Cymru aims to restore to people what they have lost or missed out on and bring them back into society. Not just shelter and support to take them off the streets, but the things that make life worth living. Somewhere to go to meet friends, good food to eat. A chance to learn new skills and express themselves. A secure place to live with comfortable furniture they have chosen. We want to offer the very best to those who have suffered the very worst.
The Dragon Arts Centre provides free arts and training classes and opportunities to anyone who has experienced homelessness or social exclusion and who may have difficulty accessing mainstream education. We do this through a wide range of activities and events both on and off-site.
Workshops are tailored to the skill
levels of the participants.
Members can work towards
qualifications at their own pace in
a creative and welcoming
environment. Not only can they
try as many or as few courses as
they wish, they are also able to
participate in the planning and
development of the project as a
whole.
A casual interest in one activity often leads to a committed involvement in several. Dragon Arts is an approved provider of many National Open College Network modules, a fact that has enabled many members to gain the first accredited qualifications of their lives. Cyrenians Cymru was recognised by Elwa in 2004 as an approved learning centre for ILA (Wales) in ICT and furniture design. Members have regular opportunities to see their work on public display in city galleries.
