Under the REVS initiative, we have opened a contemporary craft gallery in Swansea to sell some of the high quality goods produced in ResaRec and the Dragon Arts and Learning project.
All the craft works on offer are made from recycled materials; a
unique enterprise that has brought attention from the local
media and the BBC.
It’s not only a great place for guilt-free
ethical shopping, and finding some
original birthday and Christmas
presents, it’s also an Open
College Network accredited
retail training scheme for volunteers.
Res-a-Rec is the Cyrenians’ community furniture scheme, located in Hafod Yard,
Swansea. The project brings direct, immediate and measurable benefits to people
overcoming homelessness, to the environment and to the wider community:
The project has won a Green Dragon level 2 award for its contribution to the
environment, and is featured on the SWANSEA GREEN MAP.
Res-a-Rec stands for Resettlement and Recycling. Household items (including
fridges, freezers and home electricals) are collected from members of the public,
sorted and put on display in a warehouse ‘showroom’. Chosen items are then
delivered to their new owners on daily van runs.
